Challenger is Most Appealing Midsize Sporty Car
The Dodge Challenger ranks highest in the midsize sporty car segment in the J.D. Power and Associates 2009 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, which measures how gratifying a new vehicle is to own and drive. The study is based on owner evaluations of more than 90 vehicle attributes after the first 90 days of ownership. Challenger is the only midsize sporty car that scores higher than the segment average in every APEAL category. Segment average is 839, Dodge Challenger scored 855. Owners are pleased with the attributes of performance and sound of engine during rapid acceleration and front end styling, when compared to the segment.
Caravan/Grand Caravan is Most Dependable
Dodge Caravan/Grand Caravan ranks highest in the van segment in the J.D. Power and Associates 2009 Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS). This study measures long-term dependability after 3 years of new-vehicle ownership. The 2009 VDS is based on responses from more than 46,000 original owners of 2006 model-year vehicles. The PP100 (Problems per 100 Vehicles) score for Caravan outperforms the segment better than the segment average in seven of the eight problem categories examined in the VDS. Segment average is 196, Dodge Caravan/Grand Caravan scored 153.
Dodge is Most Improved Nameplate in 2009 APEAL Study
Dodge is the most improved nameplate in the J.D. Power and Associates 2009 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study. Since 2007, there has been a steady improvement in Dodge's overall APEAL score, which now exceeds the industry average, as well as the non-premium segment average. The performance of Dodge this year is a reflection of the appeal of several models, including the 2009 Dodge Challenger and Grand Caravan. With a score of 784 (on a 1,000-point scale) and an improvement of 36 index points and 13 rank positions from 2008, Dodge now ranks No.17 among 37 industry nameplates. Dodge also ranks No.5 among non-premium (non-luxury) brands in the APEAL Study this year.
